What devices are compatible with the BikeTag?
Our BikeTag is designed for use with Apple devices and integrates seamlessly with the Apple Find My network. Compatible with iPhone, iPad and Mac devices running iOS, iPadOS or macOS with Bluetooth, Location Services, iCloud and Find My enabled. The BikeTag is not currently compatible with Android devices.
How does the BikeTag work?
Our BikeTag leverages Apple’s Find My network to help locate your bike almost anywhere. When a BikeTag comes within range of a nearby Apple device, its location is anonymously and securely relayed through the Find My network and updated in your Find My app.
Rather than relying solely on your own phone, BikeTag benefits from the vast network of Apple devices around the world. As other compatible Apple devices pass nearby, they can help update the tag’s location, allowing you to view its latest known position directly from the Find My app.
Is the tracking real time?
BikeTag location updates are powered by Apple’s Find My network and occur whenever a compatible Apple device comes within range of the tag.
Update frequency can vary depending on the number of nearby Apple devices:
• In busy urban environments, such as cities, shopping precincts and residential suburbs, location updates are often received regularly throughout the day.
• In regional areas, updates may occur less frequently and depend on nearby Apple devices passing within range.
• In remote locations with limited device traffic, BikeTag may continue to display its last reported location until another compatible Apple device comes nearby and relays a new update.
As a result, location reporting is influenced by the density and movement of Apple devices within the surrounding area.
Does BikeTag have the same close proximity alerts as AirTag?
No. BikeTag does not utilise Apple's Precision Finding technology and therefore does not display the directional arrow or distance guidance available on certain Apple devices with AirTag.
BikeTag is designed primarily for bike security, recovery and location tracking through Apple's Find My network. Rather than focusing on short-range indoor locating, BikeTag helps you monitor your bike's location over a much wider area using location updates provided by nearby Apple devices.
Combined with its discreet design and built-in audible alert, BikeTag is ideally suited to protecting bikes and other valuable equipment when they are out of sight.
Is there a subscription or ongoing fee?
No subscription is required. Once you've purchased your BikeTag, you'll have full access to its tracking features through Apple's Find My network without any ongoing fees or monthly charges.
The only maintenance cost is the occasional battery replacement, allowing you to keep your BikeTag operating for years without the expense of a recurring subscription.
